Annotation: The structure and the mechanical properties of the disk-shaped samples of 5 mm in diameter have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, three-point bending tests and microhardness measurements. The samples were obtained by high pressure torsion (HPT) of two layer packages of the ribbons of amorphous Al87Ni8Gd5 alloy. It has been established that an increase of the hardness of the disks deformed under true deformation in the range 77-230 is caused by partial nanocrystallization of the amorphous phase. It was also found that the flexural strength for consolidated disks was twice that of the partially crystalline material obtained by heat treatment, which was indicated by a higher ductility of consolidated ribbons.

Keywords: nonequilibrium structural states, microhardness, consolidation, torsion under high pressure, structure.
