Annotation: The material presented in the article is aimed at studying the efficiency of torque conversion with a promising continuously variable transmission of the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) type in order to determine the associated energy losses. The results are based on field tests of the Mitsubishi Lancer EX GLS vehicle that was selected as an object in urban conditions. The obtained laws and characteristics of the continuously variable transmission workflow allow subsequently to develop a set of recommendations for the rational regulation of power plants containing transmissions of this type, and to develop for them (taking into account the results of similar studies) a universal dimensionless characteristic of energy efficiency for its subsequent use in engineering and training purposes.
