Historical principles of the universities campuses’ formation in the urban planning system, based on examples of the oldest universities in the Donetsk region

Annotation: This article discusses the historical principles of the universities campuses’ formation in the urban planning system. We used here examples of such oldest universities of the Donetsk region as: Donetsk National Technical University, Donetsk National University, Donetsk National Medical University, Institute of Foreign Languages of Gorlovka. The process of planning, design and construction of the first universities of Donbass, the principles of their placement in the urban planning structure, the interaction of urban development and the scientific- educational environment are analyzed in our article. Changes in the campuses of these universities and institutions from its foundation to the present are demonstrated in a diachronic cut. The general problems of its modern spatial and planning organization are determined here.
