Annotation: This article presents the historical aspect of the development and formation the "Reinforced concrete structures" department in Donbass national academy of civil engineering and architecture. The prerequisites for the appearance of the department as an academy’s structural unit are considered. Basic information about the history of the department is reflected. The department's role in the creation and development of the scientific school of the development of the theory of reinforced concrete is shown. The main streams of research activity are given. The contribution to the development of the department and scientific areas of the teaching staff is noted.
