Improving operational characteristics of ventilation systems by improvement of its structural components

Annotation: РThe acticle is devoted to improving the performance of ventilation systems by improving the structural components, that connect the air duct with the discharge pipe of the fan. Fan installations with centrifugal (radial) fans are considered, the feature of which is a significant non-uniformity of the air flow velocity field at the outlet of the discharge pipe, deformation of its structure and the occurrence of large-scale vortices. To improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the fan installation, recommendations for designing a diffuser behind the outlet pipe, which reduces the resistance of the ventilation system, are summarized. Numerical simulation of the turbulent flow in the structural elements at the outlet of the discharge pipe substantiates the expediency of making the leveling plate in the diffuser expansion in the form of component parts. Experimental studies of the aerodynamic characteristics of a fan installation were carried out when using a composite leveling plate in a diffuser expansion. Based on the results of experimental studies, recommendations were formulated for placing a composite plate in an asymmetric diffuser, with which the maximum increase in the performance of a centrifugal fan is achieved. The depth of immersion of the front part of the plate into the discharge pipe and the distance of the rear part of the plate from the side surface of the diffuser were taken as the main geometric parameters that determine the improvement in the aerodynamic characteristics of the fan installation. Increasing fan performance improves the features of the ventilation system.
