Annotation: One of the most important areas of technical progress in construction is the use of efficient structures, products and materials, which ensures a reduction in national economic costs by reducing material intensity, labor intensity, reducing construction duration, reducing the cost of construction and installation work and improving the performance qualities of buildings and structures put into operation. At the same time, the efficiency of capital investments in the development of production of building structures and materials increases significantly. For accelerating scientific and technological progress and the most efficient use of material and labor resources, technical policy in construction must be based on scientific recommendations that establish areas and forms of effective use of structures made of various materials. The article discusses current issues in analyzing the use of effective building structures from various materials for use in the construction of buildings and structures. The influence of various factors on reducing the material consumption of construction and ways to solve problems to save material resources in construction have been researched.

Keywords: material consumption, efficiency, forecasting, cost, interchangeability.
