Features of the use and manufacture of turbochargers for automobile internal combustion engines
Annotation: The article provides an overview of the design, application and regulation features of automotive internal combustion engine turbochargers. Installing a turbocharger on an automobile internal combustion engine allows not only to increase specific power, but also to significantly improve the efficiency and environmental friendliness of the engine by increasing the efficiency of fuel combustion. Existing types of turbochargers are considered. As an example the article provides a review of promising designs of turbochargers produced by BorgWarner, intended for installation on gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines. Unit parts operate at high relative rotation speeds under conditions of high temperatures and gas velocities. In particular, when the engine is running and after it stopped, the turbine is exposed to high temperatures, therefore, high demands are placed on the materials of the impeller and casing in terms of physical and mechanical options.
