Training of welding engineers in Donbass
Annotation: This article provides historical information about the creation and development of the welding engineering school in Mariupol. The article provides biographical information about the organizers and first graduates of the welding specialty of the Priazovskiy State Technical University, which began training in 1944. It shows their high level of qualification, which contributed to the popularization and development of welding technologies at industrial enterprises of the city and the country. The history of the creation of the departments of “Equipment and Technology of Welding Production” and “Metallurgy and Technology of Welding Production”, which became the basis for the formation of the university’s welding scientific schools, is presented in chronological order. Active scientific work of the departments’ employees and graduates contributed to the creation of a specialized council for the defense of dissertations for the degree of candidate of technical sciences and doctor of technical sciences in the way of “Welding and related processes and technologies” at the university. The article shows the modern prospects of welding departments in research activities in priority areas of development of the Russian Federation.
