An assestment of the service life of reinforced concrete structures’ and the tasks of buildings and structures’ ensuring reliability

Annotation: Issues of durability are attracting noticeable and increasing attention in the modern construction world. This is due the fact, that significant part of buildings, structures and infrastructure facilities were erected 50-70 years ago. Now all this objects are in state of disrepair. The durability’s of reinforced concrete structures of buildings and structures is multifaceted problem. It’s a combination of interrelated problems: manufacturability, reliability, efficiency, as well as environmental aspects. Its solution should found, basing on a systematic approach. At the same time, there is still a lot of unclearness in the field of durability; often the consideration is limited to practical or even commercial levels. By the way, for further progress, it is necessary to solve a number of pressing problems. One main problem is development of modern methods for predicting the durability and service life of designed elements and structures. Another significant and urgent problem is development of practical methods for increasing reinforced concrete structures of engineering structures’ in operation durability. Ensuring the required level of durability and reliability of buildings and structures in the process of their existence by technical and organizational methods are carried out. The article describes general issues and the current state of this problem, including the main provisions of the design of the durability of reinforced concrete structures, the existing methods for its assessment, concepts and criteria related to durability.
