Annotation: The article is discussed the world reserves of lithium and the areas of application of its compounds in everyday life and technology, various types of industries. A review of the world's largest lithium deposits has been carried out, and an analysis of its global production and reserves has been made. Reserve estimates presented have been made based on information obtained from government and industry sources. The article shows the prices and the level of demand for lithium and its compounds, since lithium is the main component of lithium-ion batteries, which are in great demand in the modern world due to the increase in the production of electric vehicles. Our work is aimed at predicting the depletion of lithium reserves in the future. As well as the need to reduce the production of lithium from the bowels of the Earth, by processing waste lithium-ion batteries and obtaining lithium from them as a secondary raw material.

Keywords: lithium, deposit, demand, production.
