Annotation: "The authors of the article present a compositional analysis of the vertical structure project of the late 19th century as a part of “historicism - eclecticism” line. The authors consider study of volumetric-spatial composition as an analysis of the formal sphere of heritage with the study of universal compositional laws and means. The researchers think, that studying the analysis and recording in schematic graphics of high-quality examples of heritage makes possible developing compositional thinking. Scrutinizing the formal (compositional) sphere of the heritage of the classics of our time and past eras allows us to build a path for the author’s work on the project, avoiding mistakes and disappointments when working on an architectural project. The article’s authors consider a well-known architectural monument as a balance - a relationship between the definitions “form” and “content”. Defining the formal part of an artificially created compositional organism as compositional logic, functionality, logic of movement within the premises of a building, and delegating historical reminiscences to the content component, the authors examine and evaluate the architectural object. "
