Annotation: A new method for calculating heat exchange equipment is proposed in this article. This method based on the use of theoretical formulas of heat and mass transfer processes. This technique will simplify the calculation of heat exchange in heat exchangers for various purposes and, what is especially important, optimize the designs of both newly designed and operating heat exchangers. By optimizing individual structural elements, we are getting possibility to increase the efficiency of heat exchangers in various modes and reduce the costs of their production. The main aspect for choosing a heat exchange unit is the area of its working surface. It is determined using thermal calculations of the heat exchanger during its creation or operation. Methods for calculating heat exchangers differ only in the type of calculation equations for heat transfer coefficients and hydraulic resistance during the movement of coolants, depending on the design features of the devices and technological conditions of heat exchange.

Keywords: heat exchanger, heat fluxes, heat transfer coefficient, empirical formulas, theory, heat carriers, Reynolds number, turbulence coefficient, thermal vector.
