Annotation: Problems are considered and the analysis of environmental and industrial safety of electrochemical technologies of receiving chlorine-containing products on the place of their subsequent consumption is given. A number of the problems arising at operation of modern domestic and foreign membrane and membrane-free electrolysis devices and a way of their decision is described. One of perspective and less expensive methods of chemical and biocidal water treatment is to obtain a disinfectant reagent - sodium hypochlorite on installations of direct electrolysis from the water (from the chlorides which are present at water), without bringing in the disinfected water of any oxidizers from the outside.
