The main parameters’ investigation of internal combustion cars engines’ of category M for track fuel consumption with various types of transmissions

Annotation: In our research are determined the influence of such of spark automobile piston internal combustion engines’ parameters as: working volume, nominal crankshaft speed, ratio of piston stroke to cylinder diameter, maximum effective power developed by the engine on the road fuel consumption of vehicles of category M1 under conditions of a driving cycle. Calculations, which had been using the DIESEL-RK thermodynamic program, the Mathcad computer algebra system, as well as the developed algorithms for the numerical simulation of the car movement process, were made both for the urban fragment of the NEDC driving cycle and for the conditions of the World Harmonized Driving Cycle WLTC. The research was carried out for different variants of the power plant: for a stepped mechanical transmission and for two variants of a continuously variable transmission, differing by the efficiency characteristics. The results of our research are giving a possibility for rational choosing the main parameters of internal combustion engine, depending on the type of vehicle transmission and its’ operating conditions.
